The dm1 uses AMD's "Vision" platform,HP HSTNN-XB2C WY164AA , a combination of processor and graphics chipset - which is part of AMD's Fusion line-up. The graphics chip is a Radeon HD 6310 with 384MB of dedicated RAM, but it's not very powerful, scoring only 11fps in Call of Duty 4. Even with graphical settings turned right down, you'll struggle to play any modern 3D game. HP HSTNN-XB1Z , It can decode HD video, however, and the screen's resolution is ideal for 720p video. With an overall score of 11 in our benchmarks, the processor's not very powerful either. However, this laptop is still quicker than most netbooks and it felt responsive enough for word processing and web browsing. HP HSTNN-XB1Y Battery life at just over seven hours is impressive and this laptop should last for most of a working day without having to be plugged in. Given it weighs just 1.6kg, you can easily carry this model with you everywhere you go.Behind a long metal grille that runs along the front edge of the dm1 is a set of Altec Lansing speakers. These are surprisingly loud and have a clear sound, HP HSTNN-XB1X , but they lack bass, so for watching movies you'll want to either plug in an external set of speakers, or output both sound and video via the HDMI out to a home cinema amp. There's also a headphone jack, and as with a lot of other laptops we've seen, it accepts headsets too, much like a smartphone.HP HSTNN-XA18

Tapering towards the front, the dm1's keyboard is at a slight angle, HP QK648AA , which makes it more comfortable to type on. It has flat, separated keys with a crisp, light action that gives excellent feedback for touch-typists. There's a double-height Enter key and much of the layout is standard. HP 614564-751 , Our only complaint would be the function keys - instead of using the Fn key as a modifier, they now perform shortcuts by default, although this behaviour can be changed in the BIOS.Once again, however, HP has opted for an all-in-one touchpad - a single,HP 614565-721 , touch-sensitive surface with a clicking action along the bottom edge. This might look smart, but it's annoying, as clicking often means you move the cursor and miss your target. With benchmark scores a lot higher than on the average netbook, the HP Pavilion dm1-3100sa seems like a decent laptop for standard office tasks. Sadly, the poor touchpad and dim screen detract heavily from it. HP ED03 , The MSI GE620 costs only £50 more, but has a quad-core processor, a much faster graphics chip, weighs only 2.4kg and comes with a two-year warranty. With its brushed metal-effect chassis and smooth curves, the dv7 is one of the best looking mid-range laptops HP has produced in a long time, HP ED06 , but it has function as well as form. The five Beats Audio speakers, Blu-ray player and 17.3in screen could make it the ideal choice for multimedia playback. It doesn’t have a full HD resolution, but the 1,600x900 display is big enough to make the Windows desktop feel very spacious. HP ED06066 , Contrast was reasonable, as long as we sat directly in front of the screen; with plenty of screen tilt, it’s frustrating that viewing angles are so poor. Colours weren’t particularly vibrant, even with the glossy screen coating, but the backlight was at least bright enough to help reduce screen glare from overhead lighting.HP ED06DF

The much-lauded speakers were impressive for a laptop. HP HSTNN-LB1Z , They're loud, making enough noise to fill a medium-sized room, but the small subwoofer couldn’t provide much bass. They was no distortion even at full volume, so you could easily watch catch-up TV without having to reach for your headphones or connect external speakers. HP HSTNN-LB1X , We appreciated HP’s decision to revamp the touchpad; previous laptops had an awful touch-sensitive pad that rarely worked, but the dedicated buttons used here are a huge improvement. The touchpad felt very responsive, and even lights up with the press of a shortcut key. The QWERTY keyboard has also been improved slightly, HP HSTNN-IB1X , but the function keys still activate multimedia shortcuts by default which can be annoying. It was incredibly easy to type on thanks to the large, isolated keys that let us get up to full speed in no time. This version of the dv7 is powered by an Intel processor. The dual-core i5-2410M isn’t the fastest we’ve seen at this price, but it still packs a punch in Windows thanks to its 2.3GHz clock speed. HP HSTNN-F05C , This jumps up to 2.9GHz with Turbo Boost, helping it reach 54 overall in our multimedia benchmarks. An ample 6GB of RAM will help with multitasking, but thankfully this performance doesn’t have a huge impact on battery life. We saw four and three quarter hours in our light-use test. However, at 2.9kg, you’ll certainly notice it in your bag when on the move.HP HSTNN-CB1Z

It might handle multimedia well, but the dv7 is also capable of some light gaming. HP HSTNN-CB1Y , The AMD Radeon 6490M isn’t the fastest, but it still managed 25.3fps in our Dirt 3 test. If you turn off anti-aliasing, you should find that most games will play reasonably well. Naturally, the card can also decode HD video, HP Compaq nc6120 Battery , either on the laptop in 720p or in 1080p on an external display using the HDMI output. Other connectivity is more than acceptable, with two USB3 ports, two more standard USB, a multi-format card reader and analogue audio outputs. The latest dv7 is a return to form for HP, mainly thanks to the fact that the awful touchpads that plagued previous models have been ditched. HP Compaq nc6140 Battery , This version’s Intel processor is certainly faster than the AMD equivalent, but you pay for the price; it’s over £300 more than the AMD-powered model the HP dv7-6000sa. You also get a slightly better graphics card and longer battery life, but the MSI GE620 is faster still and has a better warranty. Unless you prefer a bigger, higher resolution screen, HP Compaq nc6200 Battery , the MSI is the better choice for most people.HP’s Envy range of laptops is undeniably stylish, thanks to their minimalist design and smooth lines. This special edition is the result of the company’s collaboration with hip-hop mogul Dr Dre, and we think it looks even better than the vanilla model; the all-black body is reminiscent of a previous generation MacBook, but with its own distinct design thanks to the metallic silver finish around the chassis edge.HP Compaq nc6220 Battery

Considering HP has gone to great lengths to secure Dr Dre as the face of the Beats range, HP Compaq nx6330 Battery , we were amazed that the Envy’s speakers barely sounded any better than almost every other laptop. Quiet and slightly tinny, the barely discernable bass notes disappear altogether when deactivating Beats mode, which is nothing more than an equaliser pre-set,HP Compaq nx6325 Battery , making us question why anyone would bother turning it off at all. It was loud enough that we could still hear it clearly from the other side of a small room, but we would definitely recommend using headphones for anything other than the odd YouTube video. It might not be great for audio, HP Compaq nx6320 Battery , but underneath the great-looking chassis the internal components are still able to perform when it counts. A first generation Intel Core i7-720QM processor runs at a relatively sedate 1.6GHz, but when in Turbo Boost mode it can increase to a much faster 2.8GHz. Anyone used to multi-tasking will appreciate 4GB of RAM and the 500GB hard disk should be big enough for a respectable multimedia collection. HP Compaq nx6315 Battery , Despite having a quad-core processor, the Envy still can’t match a new dual-core Sandy Bridge chip for flat-out power, as shown in our multimedia benchmarks. An overall score of 55 is still impressive, but considering the Envy’s price it’s a shame you aren’t getting cutting-edge technology. The other downside is battery life; with just three and a half hours in our light-use test, HP Compaq nx6310 Battery , you won’t want to go too far without the mains adaptor.Graphics muscle comes courtesy of AMD’s Mobility Radeon 5650 chipset; it’s already a generation old, but still capable of gaming at reasonable levels of detail. HP Compaq nx6300 Battery

HP Compaq Business Notebook nx6300 Battery

The Envy completed our new DirectX 11 Dirt 3 racing benchmark (1,280 x 720, 4x anti-aliasing and High detail) with 33.8fps and the game still ran at a smooth 31fps at the laptop's native screen resolution of 1,366x768. Unsurprisingly with this much graphics powerHP Compaq nc6230 Battery , the Envy had no problem with high definition video. 720p footage played smoothly on the laptop itself and 1080p content looked just as good on an external display. The laptop screen's image quality was slightly above average, but not a patch on the fantastic Radiance display seen on previous Envy models. HP Compaq nc6300 Battery , The 1,366x768 resolution is smaller than we would like, but images at least looked reasonably sharp and colours were as accurate as we would expect from a TN (as opposed to IPS) panel. Viewing angles were very limited and not helped by the ultra-glossy screen finish, but plenty of screen tilt helps to compensate. We were hoping that HP would have fixed the Envy’s touchpad for this limited edition, HP Compaq nc6320 Battery , but unfortunately the Beats edition suffers from the same problems; because the buttons are integrated into the touchpad, any movement over the dividing line will send the mouse cursor flying across the screen. Thankfully the backlit QWERTY keyboard is a much better. Each isolated key has a reasonable amount of tactile feedback and very short travel times, although the wrist rest can get a little toasty after several hours’ use. The red backlight is subtle enough not to be distracting, and you can also disable it.HP Compaq nc6400 Battery

 Fujitsu LifeBook B2545 Battery

It's all helped by the dual-core 1GHz Nvidia Tegra chip inside the tablet, asus p41sj Charger , which gives it plenty of power and the Slider never felt sluggish to us. This chip will handle HD video and, should you tire of watching on the 10.1in screen, there's a Micro HDMI output so you can send video to an external display instead. Battery life is pretty good, asus p41jg Charger , lasting just over nine hours in our video playback test, although this is shorter than Transformer in dock mode, which lasted more than 15 hours (as a standard tablet, the Transformer lasted a similar 8h 37m).The five-megapixel camera sits against your lap when typing. asus p31sd-ro132x Charger , It can be activated in keyboard mode, but it's difficult to hold and you'll spend most of your time taking pictures of your desk. In tablet mode it's a lot easier to hold and take pictures. Bizarrely, the focus on the camera didn't work very well taking the sharp-looking preview image and knocking it out of focus. asus p31jg-ro199x Charger , Detail was average in the resulting image and noise was high. Video recording at 720p (30fps) is also possible. Footage isn't brilliant, though. Details get soft the further back in the frame you look, while noise is evident even in the brightest of rooms. Potentially more useful is the front-facing camera for video calling.asus p31 Charger

In terms of design the Slider is certainly very clever and the hinge feels robust and smooth in operation. ASUS P43S Charger , The keyboard is useful, although it's not always the most comfortable to type on. We found that the Eee Pad Transformer was easier to type on and, as it's currently cheaper with the keyboard dock, is our preference.ASUS P43SJ Charger , If you'd rather have a standard Android tablet, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 remains our top choice. For the sheer convenience of a keyboard in a relatively small form factor, though, there's no beating the Eee Pad Slider. Asus' U-series laptops have impressed us over the last couple of years with their long battery life, ASUS P43SL Charger , despite the use of normal Intel Core processors, rather than the low-voltage variety used by most other ultra-portables. The new U31JG follows this trend: despite its 2.67GHz Core i5-480M processor and a dedicated graphics card, it lasted for over ten hours in our light usage test. This is largely thanks to Nvidia's Optimus technology, ASUS X54 Charger , which switches between the processor's integrated graphics chip and the GeForce GT 415M depending on whether you need performance or battery life. It's not that fast - a score of 17fps in Call of Duty 4 means you'll have to turn off most of the graphical effects in a modern 3D game to get playable frame rates - but it supports Nvidia's CUDA which helps speed up certain operations in programs such as Photoshop. It will also easily decode HD video content.ASUS X54F Charger

ASUS X54F Charger

You might want to output HD content to a larger monitor via the HDMI output, ASUS X44LY Charger , or pipe both audio and video to an AV amplifier. Movie soundtracks would certainly benefit as the U31JG's internal speakers aren't particularly inspiring, with a very compressed sound and no bass. If your sound system doesn't have an HDMI input, ASUS X44L Charger , you can also output audio via the headphone socket, which doubles as an S/PDIF output. The screen more than makes up for any slight shortcomings with audio. We found that the 13.3in screen had a bright, even backlight and vibrant colours. ASUS X44HO Charger , This is partly due to the glossy finish on the screen, but the downside is that this can also reflect overhead lighting. Vertical viewing angles are also very tight, so you'll have to adjust the screen's tilt carefully to get the best picture. Once you get it right, however, it has good contrast and natural colours.ASUS X44HY Charger , Its resolution of 1,366x768 gives plenty of room for HD movies or the Windows desktop.Previous U-series models were made entirely of black plastic, but the U31JG adds a bit of variety with a grey wrist rest - otherwise, ASUS X44H Charger , the brushed-metal-effect lid and glossy black screen bezel match previous models. Construction seems sound, with little flex in the lid, but sadly there's quite a bounce in the keyboard panel. Thankfully, the keys' action is light, with a crisp bite in the keystroke that provides enough feedback to compensate for this flex.ASUS X44C Charger

Below is a medium-sized touchpad that's responsive and supports multi-touch gestures. ASUS X54H Charger , It has a single see-saw button that has a very shallow action and a large central dead area, but it's usable. Typical of an ultra-portable, the U31JG has no optical drive, but instead has a fairly standard collection of ports - three USB ports, VGA and HDMI video outputs, ASUS X54HB Charger , an Ethernet port and a memory card reader. The U31JG's Core i5-480M managed an overall score of 56 in our new benchmarks, putting it behind only the new Apple MacBook Pro in terms of raw performance. A score of 85 in the single-threaded image-editing test shows off the Core i5's Turbo Boost, which can push the processor's clock speed up to 2.9GHz,ASUS X54HY Charger , and with two physical cores, expanded to four cores through Intel's Hyper-Threading technology, it's no slouch when you're running multiple programs or using multi-threaded applications such as video-encoding.With decent performance as well as good battery life, a vibrant screen and a sensible selection of ports and other features, ASUS X54K Charger , the U31JG ticks all the right boxes. It may not be the most stylish or exciting design, but at just over £600 it's great value, especially when you consider the two year warranty, so it wins our Best Buy award.Take one look at the Eee Slate and it’s clear to see that Asus has produced something rather special; with sharp lines, ASUS X54L Charger , plenty of brushed metal and a textured finish, it’s a great looking tablet. A huge 12.1in widescreen display also makes it something of a behemoth, but that extra room has been filled with some powerful internal components.ASUS X54LB Charger

Instead of using a low-power Intel Atom or AMD Fusion processor, ASUS X44 Charger , the Slate is powered by a much faster Core i5-470UM. This dual-core chip runs at 1.3GHz and made Windows 7 Home Premium feel very responsive, even with several programs open at once. The 64-bit version of Windows 7 Home Premium uses all 4GB of the fitted RAM, ASUS X54LY Charger , so it didn’t struggle when running multiple browser tabs. With an overall score of 29 in our multimedia benchmarks, the Slate was around three times faster than a netbook or low-power tablet. The 1,280x800 display resolution looks sharp and is large enough to watch native 720p video or browse the web with minimal horizontal scrolling. Fujitsu LifeBook B2175A Battery , High Definition playback was impressively smooth thanks to Intel’s integrated graphics, which can also output to an external display using the mini-HDMI port. Unsurprisingly it isn’t capable of playing modern games, scraping a lowly 7.6fps in our Call of Duty 4 test. A pair of in-built speakers tick a box, but aren’t particularly loud and audio quality was unsurprisingly muted.Fujitsu LifeBook B2175B Battery ,

Fujitsu LifeBook B2175B Charger

Using the Slate, it was immediately obvious that Asus understands Windows isn’t the ideal operating system for a touchscreen device. Fujitsu LifeBook B2542 Battery , The single hardware button on the front of the device sensibly defaults to the alt-tab keyboard shortcut, which makes switching between programs much quicker than using the touchscreen. Another useful addition is a hardware button to toggle the on-screen keyboard. This was quicker than dragging it into place by hand, but typing still felt slow and cumbersome, even on the large multi-point capacitive display. Fujitsu LifeBook B2545 Battery , Thankfully Asus bundles a Bluetooth keyboard with the Slate, so you can type as you would on a regular laptop if you need to. It has a slightly curved layout which can take a short while to get used to, but it’s still far easier than using the tablet itself.Asus also supplies a stylus (which it would prefer we called a Digitiser pen) for natural text input. Obviously this is slower than using a keyboard, but the character recognition was very accurate. Fujitsu LifeBook B2547 Battery , When you aren’t using it, a slot in the back of the unit holds the stylus to stop it getting misplaced. There are two USB ports if you prefer to use a keyboard and mouse, as the leather slip case doubles as a desk stand.

 HP Compaq NX7100 Charger Original

As this is one of the entry-level models in the V131 range, the laptop H766N has a basic Core i3 processor. The version we tested had a dual-core i3-2330M running at 2.2GHz, but Dell has just upgraded the laptop to a 2.3GHz i3-2350M without changing the price. The J590M chip doesn’t have Turbo Boost so can’t overclock itself automatically for increased performance. Its Hyper Threading technology does double the number of cores seen by Windows and can help in multi-threaded applications, but an overall score of J658N 38 in our multimedia benchmarks shows this is only of limited help - the new version will be around 5% faster. The laptop will also struggle to run multiple applications without slowing down, as it only has 2GB of RAM.The laptop M457P uses the processor's built-in graphics, but it’s mostly limited to video playback. It can handle 720p footage on the laptop screen, or 1080p video on an external display using the HDMI port, but playing modern games is almost out of the question. The V131 could only manage 13.3fps in our Dirt3 test, 02MTH3 so you’ll have to stick to older titles. At least the low-powered components help prevent the battery from draining quickly while on the move – in our light-use test, the V131 managed to last over eight hours away from the mains. 451-11469 This means you should be able to get close to a full working day from the six-cell battery. This is a major improvement over the old model, which struggled to reach four hours on a full charge.KRJVC

Dell KRJVC Battery

Dell has also made other 0D839N improvements to the new Vostro – all its ports have moved from the rear, where they were difficult to reach, to the sides of the laptop. Now, the single USB and two USB3 ports, HDMI and VIGA inputs, memory card reader and headset audio jack J1KND are easier to reach. We liked the V131's Chiclet-style keys, which are spaced widely apart and have plenty of bounce. There’s no numeric keypad, but the punctuation keys were all in the places we would expect. The laptop's touchpad feels compact, even when controlling the small 04YRJH 13in display, as we couldn’t span the desktop in a single movement. A quick trip to the driver settings menu solved the problem, but we would have preferred a little more room to manoeuvre. At least the touchpad buttons felt firm and responsive, registering our clicks consistently. KRJVC In the configuration we saw, the Vostro V131 felt slightly underpowered for intensive tasks, but was still ideally suited to web browsing, word processing and other work-related tasks. With this specification, it's also good value for an ultra-portable laptop, 451-11469 and if you don't need the 3G modem and specify Windows 7 Home Premium rather than Professional, you can knock the price down to a bargain £514 including VAT. If an ultrabook is out of your price range but you want a laptop for travel, the Vostro V131 is a great buy.02MTH3

This is the second time we’ve seen the 'facelifted' Dell Inspiron 15R, but this 312-1123 model lacks the dedicated graphics card of its more expensive sibling - the N00Q1535. Instead, it relies on Intel’s 312-1127integrated graphics to keep the price below £500.Without dedicated graphics, the Inspiron struggles to run modern games. It produced 13fps in our Dirt 3 test, so you’ll have to either sacrifice resolution and detail settings or stick to older titles. Watching HD video is no problem, either at 720p on the laptop or 1080p on an external display over HDMI.Graphics performance aside, the 15R J70W7 JWPHF is an impressive performer in desktop tasks thanks to its Core i5 processor. With two cores, the i5-2430M sped through our multimedia benchmarks with an overall score of 49 – it can handle almost every desktop application you can throw at it without missing a beat. R795X We're big fans of Dell’s laptop displays, and the 15R has a stunning 15.6in panel. The resolution might be run of the mill at 1,366x768, but it has fantastic image quality thanks to a glossy finish and ultra-bright LED backlight, which makes colours look incredibly vivid. Viewing angles are slightly better than average, and there’s a reasonable amount of screen tilt,WHXY3 so you should have no trouble using the 15R in most lighting conditions. The pair of stereo speakers underneath produces decent enough audio for watching videos, but they're still poor compared with most TVs.04YRJH

At 2.6kg, this is no featherweight,J1KND but you should still be able to take the 15R with you on the move. Its great battery life of six and a half hours in our light-use test means you might not have to take the charger with you. The whole chassis is surprisingly compact thanks to its 9T48V recessed screen hinge that sits on top of the laptop, rather than at its edge. This design lets Dell put some of the ports on the rear edge, spacing them out and making cables more manageable when sat at a desk. On top of the combined eSATA/USB port, there are also two USB3 ports to speed up file 4T7JN transfers for the latest external USB3 hard disks. You also get a multiformat card reader on one side and a DVD re-writer on the other. We had no trouble typing on the full-size keyboard; both the QWERTY keys and the separate numerical keypad have pleasant keys, 383CWalthough there was noticeable flex in the keyboard tray. The generously-sized touchpad is better, with a smooth finish that creates minimal friction. However, the overly springy buttons lack of feedback were slightly disappointing.312-0234 The 15R is still fantastic value, even without a dedicated graphics card.If you want something more portable, the 14z is a better, if more expensive, choice, but the fantastic screen and great performance make the Inspiron 15R a superb all-round laptop 312-0233 .

Despite the DM1's small size, it still has a good number of ports for connecting your peripherals. HP Compaq NX7100 Charger The three USB ports, multi-format card reader, VGA and HDMI video outputs, single 3.5mm headset audio jack and Ethernet port should be more than enough for most travellers. In everyday use, the full-size keyboard is HP Compaq NX7200 Charger surprisingly comfortable to type on – the wrist rest is very small, so we had to adjust our hands slightly, but we were soon typing at full speed. Each key is well spaced from its neighbours and provides plenty of feedback so you can be sure when you've pressed it. The compact touchpad could pose a problem for typists who like to rest their Compaq PP2100 Charger whole hands on the keyboard tray, but a quick double-tap in the top left corner disables it temporarily. We found the touchpad itself incredibly sensitive, to the point that we couldn’t leave one finger resting on the left mouse button without it triggering cursor movements. We've experienced this with a series of HP's integrated touchpads for well over a year,Compaq PP2200 Charger so it was disappointing to see the issue reappear here. HP’s Mini laptops are among the best-looking netbooks available. The bold, minimalist design hasn’t changed a lot over the years, but the internal components have: the 210 has a dual-core Intel Atom processor, which makes it considerably faster than the first netbooks.Compaq PP2210 Charger

Don’t be put off by the shocking pink Compaq Evo N400c Charger exterior as HP also makes the Mini 210 in other, less offensive colours. Look past the paint job and the sleek design looks just as good as HP’s larger laptops. Build quality is almost as good, with no signs of flex in the keyboard tray or loose panels. The keyboard itself is surprisingly easy to type on. Despite its small size, the QWERTY keys are almost all full-size andCompaq Armada PP2070 Charger well-spaced apart from each other. The oddly-shaped rectangular touchpad takes some getting used to, but its textured finish creates minimal friction which makes navigating the desktop very smooth. The two touchpad buttons beneath it sit precariously close to the edge of the chassis, but they're large enough to be pleasant to use. Compaq Armada PP2050 Charger Like almost all netbooks, the 10.1in screen has a low 1,024x600 resolution. Although this is fine for working on a single document, you might have to scroll horizontally as well as vertically on some websites and you won’t be able to run multiple programs side-by-side. Compaq Armada M300 Charger Image quality is about average, with fairly accurate colours and plenty of brightness. The glossy, reflective screen finish makes it difficult to use in bright conditions, but there’s 180 degrees of screen tilt to find the perfect viewing angle.HP COMPAQ NX9110 Charger

HP COMPAQ NX9110 Battery

Unsurprisingly, connectivity isn’t the Mini’s strong point, although three USB ports Compaq Presario R3000 Charger are respectable for a netbook of this size. A multiformat card reader and twin audio jacks are also welcome inclusions. The 250GB hard disk should be large enough for your music, photos and videos, but you might want an external hard disk for larger files or Compaq Presario R3000AP Charger backups. The dual-core Intel Atom N570 processor runs at 1.66GHz. Paired with 1GB of RAM, it's no powerhouse, but it still managed to complete our multimedia benchmarks with an overall score of 11. Its integrated graphics chip can play 720p video, even if the screen resolution doesn’t support it, but it won’t be able to handle 3D games.Compaq Presario R3210CA Charger On the plus side, battery life is fantastic: the Mini 210 managed an unparalleled eleven hours in our light-use battery test.A major disadvantage in choosing an Intel Atom netbook over an AMD Fusion machine is that most Atom-powered laptops come with Windows 7 Starter Edition – this severely limits the hardware options available to the manufacturer, and prevents you from simple tasks such as changing the desktop Compaq Presario R4000 Charger background.

 Compaq Presario CQ20 Charger

The menacing colour scheme looks even better in the dark, when the keyboard tray is Compaq Presario CQ62 Charger illuminated by red LEDs. The keyboard itself is very comfortable to type on, thanks to the full-size well-spaced keys. HP still insists on repurposing the function keys for its own multimedia shortcuts, but this can be turned off in the BIOS.The touchpad, previously a pitfall for many HP laptops, is a little on the small side but still perfectly usable. A double-tap to the top left corner will disable it if you prefer to use a mouse, and the two separate Acer Battery Replacement buttons below it are easier to use than the single bar we often see on HP laptops. The 14in screen's 1,366x768 resolution is just about large enough to work on two documents side by side, but it’s better suited to full-screen web browsing and watching 720p video. Asus Battery Replacement There’s a reasonable amount of tilt and viewing angles are wide, although the glossy screen finish made working under office lighting or in direct sunlight a pain. However, it helps colours appear vibrant and the high contrast ratio made pictures look sharp and detailed.Dell Battery Replacement

Considering the Beats branding, we were expecting slightly Battery for LENOVO 42T4889 better sound quality from the DM4 than on other mid-range laptops – the downward-firing stereo speakers were reasonably crisp and the tiny integrated subwoofer helped with bass, but realistically you wouldn’t want to use them for much more than watching YouTube videos. The DM4 isn’t going to break any performance records, Battery for LENOVO 57y6309 but it's a very capable mid-range machine, thanks to its dual-core Intel processor. The i5-2450M runs at 2.5GHz but can Turbo Boost up to 3.1Ghz for extra power in certain applications, such as our multimedia benchmarks. Paired with a healthy 6GB of RAM, it managed to score 56 overall – you should have no problems running all your everyday applications. The DM4 is also the first laptop Battery for LENOVO l09s6d21 we’ve seen to use one of the latest generation of AMD mobile graphics processors, the Radeon HD 7470m. However, this is essentially a rebadged version of the older HD 6490m, so we weren’t expecting to be blown away by its performance. Even so, it still managed a reasonable 26fps in our Dirt 3 test, which we run at 1,280x720 at High detail and with 4x anti-aliasing – turn down the Battery for LENOVO 57Y6354 AA and most games should be playable at 720p. The dedicated GPU can be disabled when running on battery power, helping the DM4 achieve an impressive seven hours in our light-use battery test. If you need to get some work done but don’t have a mains socket handy, you shouldn’t have to worry about running out of power.Battery for LENOVO L09M3P13

With plenty of power in both 2D and 3D applications, Battery for LENOVO 42T4891 the DM4 is a capable 14in laptop. Despite its size, it has room for a DVD re-writer and two USB3 ports, but at £800 it’s expensive compared to superior 15in laptops from other manufacturers such as Asus N55SF, which is the same price but significantly faster. If you’re determined to find a portable laptop capable of some light gaming for under £1,000,Battery for LENOVO SU2300 this is a good choice, but if portability isn’t crucial, Asus' laptop is a better bet. HP’s Envy laptops were simply gorgeous when they first appeared a few years ago – they were among the only Windows-based machines capable of giving Apple a run for its money where it comes to design. Little has changed on the outside, Battery for LENOVO PP31AT128 but this latest model has brand new internal components to keep it up to date.First up is an Intel Core i5-2410M processor running at 2.3GHz. This dual-core chip is more than capable of completing everyday tasks, and can also hold its own when it comes to more intense workloads thanks to Turbo Boost, which can push its clock speed up to 2.9GHz. Paired with 4GB of RAM, it achieved an overall score of 53 in our multimedia benchmarks.Battery for LENOVO L09M6D13

It's one of the larger laptops in this month's group, Battery for LENOVO LO8L6C02 LO8N6Y02 but, surprisingly, it's also the lightest laptop too, weighing just 2.1kg. That, combined with its excellent battery life, makes it well suited to travelling. If you're in the cheap seats when travelling, you'll be glad to know that the lid tilts back more than 180 degrees so you can always get a good view of the screen, even if you’re struggling for legroom.Battery for LENOVO LO8O4C02 You'll need the best angle possible because the E520's screen has very tight vertical viewing angles. The matt finish reduces glare from reflected overhead lights, but it dulls colours. The backlight isn't very bright either, and its contrast is fairly poor, but colours are fairly accurate, with only a mild red cast adding a bit of warmth to images.Intel's Core i3-2350M CPU is energy efficient, but it is of average speed. Battery for LENOVO LO8O6C02 The E520 scored a respectable 46 overall, which means it should be capable of handling most applications. The integrated graphics chip can decode HD video content, but it's not up to playing games. It only scored 17fps in our Dirt3 test, so you'll have to lower graphical settings to achieve playable frame rates, even in the least demanding of games.Battery for LENOVO LO8S6C02

Business laptops often have Battery for LENOVO ASM 42T4784 a few tricks up their sleeves that consumer models lack. Windows 7 Professional supports old Windows XP apps and it also lets you join domains, which is useful if you need to connect to a network in a large organisation. It also lets you back up to a network storage device, which is very handy if you own a NAS or a media streamer with local storage. Battery for LENOVO 57Y4559 As well as the versatile ExpressCard slot, the E520 has four USB ports, one of which also doubles as an eSATA port. Sadly, we didn't like the fact that the USB ports are placed towards the front of the case where they might get in the way of an attached mouse. It also has an SDHC card slot and a single 3.5mm jack that supports headsets, replacing separate headphone and microphone ports. The ThinkPad's design, as ever, is functional, Battery for LENOVO 57Y4558 and it feels well built. As is usual with ThinkPads, you get a touchstick as well as a large touchpad. Both are responsive and have large buttons. Lenovo has used the full width of the case to accommodate the keyboard and, if anything, the keyboard feels too wide. The moulded keys are slightly convex, providing good tactile feedback when you strike the key, and their action is light and crisp.Battery for LENOVO 42T4897

lenovo 42t4897 battery

We don't like its layout, however; the Control and Function keys' Battery for LENOVO 42T4895 positions have been swapped, while the Function key is now used to access the F1-F12 functions rather than the shortcuts it normally activates. We also don't like the small PageUp and PageDown keys because they’re tucked away above the arrow keys and recessed to half-height, which means they're almost impossible to press without also hitting an arrow key.Battery for LENOVO 42T4894 All in all, the E520 is fairly boring, but its low weight and long battery life make it ideal for working on the move. The keyboard is a delight to use, and our only complaint is its dull screen, which prevents movies and photos looking their best. Still, it's the ideal travelling companion for the price, Battery for LENOVO 42T4893 and it wins our Business Buy award.

Its desktop performance is governed by an AMD A6 Llano processor, HP COMPAQ Mini CQ10 Charger which is paired with 6GB of RAM. The A6-3430MX is one of the least expensive quad-core mobile processors we’ve ever seen, and although it normally runs at 1.7GHz, it bumps up to 2.4GHz using Turbo Core, providing increased performance in single-threaded applications. Our multimedia benchmarks proved a challenge, HP Mini 110 Charger with the X53Z managing to score 42 overall. Although this isn’t especially fast, it’s more than enough for everyday tasks and even for more demanding multi-threaded applications.HP’s paired the processor, which has its own integrated GPU, with a dedicated graphics card so that it can play games in CrossFire mode. Hp Mini 210 Charger and The Radeon 7470M might be based on AMD’s older 6490M chip, but when working in tandem the DV6 has the potential to play modern games at high detail settings. The DV6 managed an impressive 42fps overall in our Dirt 3 test, and we still got a playable frame rate when we increased the resolution.HPCOMPAQ Mini CQ20 Charger

Acer Aspire 5755G Battery

2012/05/05 12:05

 Acer Aspire 5755G Battery

The Fujitsu T-series is aimed at professional business users. FUJITSU FPCBP177 The matt 13.3 inch touch display can be rotated and folded, transforming the notebook into a tablet PC. The touch screen can be used with the touch pen (delivered with the notebook) and fingers. FUJITSU FPCBP186AP Fujitsu has installed the Intel Core i7 2620M in the laptop to give the user good performance. The dual-core processor has a base clock frequency of 2.7 GHz and can reach up to 3.4 GHz with Turbo Boost if the cooling is sufficient. A dedicated graphic card will not be FUJITSU FPCBP186 found in the laptop, which means that the integrated graphics chip of the CPU (Intel HD Graphics 3000) takes care of all the graphics. 4 GB DDR3 RAM and a fast 128 GB SSD are also installed in this device. In addition, Fujitsu has equipped the model with a UMTS module. A second hard drive or battery can be added via the FUJITSU CP345809-01 modular slot. The model we tested (bought in October with special savings) cost us 2000 Euros - not cheap. The high price will cause most buyers to pause and carefully consider the pros and cons of the device. Our review should help give you an idea of the laptop you are investing in. We tested the Fujitsu Lifebook T901 intensively for our readers. FUJITSU SIEMENS S26391-F405-L810

The Fujitsu Lifebook T901 is plain black on the outside, but on the FUJITSU FPCBP176 inside the keyboard is surrounded by a silver surface which adds style to the case. Fujitsu has used a magnesium alloy for some parts of this surface. The surfaces of the hand-rest regions and the touchpad are also made of the same material. FUJITSU FPCBP176AP Fingerprints will be hard to recognize on this case. The strength of the chassis is especially impressive: the keyboard is securely installed and the case barely gives way under pressure. The sturdiness of the display cover is equally impressive, FUJITSU FPCBP199AP ensuring that the display remains unharmed from external forces. The chassis is only weak in the region of the optical drive, but this is the case with most notebooks with an optical drive, and as such it is not so bad.

Our main complaint about the G9 is its build quality. Acer Aspire 5741ZG Battery The tablet's plastic case creaks if you flex it, and there's a small gap in the join between the two halves of the case. We also noticed a bug with the touchscreen; if you touch the very left or right edge of the screen, it activates the button on that side - the Back Acer Aspire 5742 Battery button on the left, or the tray menu on the right. This can be annoying, especially pressing Back whilst reading a web page or watching a video.Still, such faults are forgivable considering that the G9 has the latest version of Android, Acer Aspire 5742G Battery 16GB of internal storage and yet costs only £270. Archos's light touch with the software, the bright screen and the option of 3G make the G9 a worthy Budget Buy winner. We aren’t quite sure how Acer managed to squeeze a quad-core AMD A8 processor into a £500 laptop,Acer Aspire 5742Z Battery but that’s exactly what it’s done with the Aspire 5560G. It’s a mid-range machine with dedicated graphics that should be capable of playing modern 3D games. When run in Crossfire with the A8-3500M processor, the Radeon HD 6650M flew through our Dirt 3 benchmark with an average frame rate of 42.1. We could even increase the resolution and still maintain a playable frame rate, so even the latest titles should be Acer Aspire 5742ZG Battery playable at high detail settings.

Acer Aspire 5742ZG Battery

More of a concern is the screen. Acer Aspire 7551-2755 Battery The 15.6in display has a widescreen 1,366x768 resolution, but despite having a bright and even backlight, it has a strong yellow-green cast that dulls colours. Like most laptop screens, it also suffers from poor vertical viewing Acer Aspire 7551 Battery angles. This, in addition to a glossy finish that reflects overhead lights, means that you'll end up having to adjust the tilt of the screen carefully to get the right balance of contrast and colour accuracy. Sadly, the latter is elusive because the screen's cast turns Acer Aspire 7251 Battery reds to orange and makes greens seem too yellow.Acer has used the entire width of the laptop and fitted a numberpad next to the keyboard, but the flat-topped keys are set close to each other and wobble a bit in their mountings, which means that your fingers can slip on them and hit neighbouring keys. Their action, however, is light Acer Aspire 5755ZG Battery and has a crisp bite in the keystroke, providing touch-typists with adequate feedback. The touchpad is on the small side, and only has a vertical scroll area - the option for horizontal scrolling is turned off by default. You can also use a two-fingered multi-touch gesture to scroll vertically, but there's no equivalent for side-scrolling. The single see-saw button is a bit stiff and has a very shallow action, Acer Aspire 5755Z Battery so it doesn't provide as much feedback as we'd like.

As it relies on Intel’s integrated graphics, you won’t be able to play the latest games on the Aspire S3: it could Acer Aspire 5750 Battery barely manage 13 frames per second (fps) in our Dirt 3 test. However, it’s still powerful enough for watching high-definition video. Other connectivity is fairly limited, with two USB ports at the back of the base, a memory card reader to one side and a combined audio headset Acer Aspire 5750G Battery input at the other. There’s no USB 3 or Ethernet port, and without an adaptor in the box you’ll have to buy one or stick to 802.11n Wi-Fi for getting online. The chassis disappoints in other areas too. Opening up the reasonably attractive brushed metal lid reveals a rather drab combination of grey keys in a grey plastic chassis. acer Battery Replacement The keyboard is at least comfortable to type on, helped by bouncy keys whose travel isn't quite as shallow as other ultrabook keyboards we’ve used. Unfortunately, the touchpad is much less impressive – it’s cramped and the integrated buttons make it difficult to navigate the desktop lenovo-ibm Battery Replacement accurately.

Acer Aspire 5755G Charger

Apart from its fast dedicated graphics card, Acer Aspire 5755G Battery the 5750G holds few surprises. We liked the inclusion of USB3 and headset ports, but the screen's strong colour cast is a let-down and we didn't feel comfortable using the keyboard. It's certainly a good budget option Acer Aspire 5755 Battery for gaming, but the Dell Inspiron 17R is almost as fast and has a larger screen and far better keyboard.Acer’s ultrabook doesn’t look massively different to that from any other manufacturer, but there's one crucial specification difference: instead of a big SSD, Acer Aspire 5750ZG Battery Acer has kept costs down with a combination of flash storage and a conventional hard disk. The 20GB SSD automatically caches files from the 320GB hard disk as you use them, which Acer says will make the Aspire S3 almost as responsive as an ultrabook Acer Aspire 5750Z Battery equipped with a fully-fledged SSD. We didn’t notice it during a cold boot, which took over a minute to reach the Windows desktop, but it resumed from sleep mode in a much snappier two seconds. Our benchmarks don’t repeat enough tasks to benefit from this caching technology, but the Acer's overall score of 39 still gives little away to other ultrabooks. Acer Aspire 5750TG Battery This is mostly due to its Intel Core i5-2467M processor running at 1.6GHz, and the laptop's 4GB of RAM, which together coped well with our demanding programs. The mechanical hard disk wasn’t much of a battery drain either, as the Aspire S3 managed a Acer Aspire 5750G-2312G50 Battery respectable five and a half hours in our light-use battery test.

FUJITSU FMVNBP123

 FUJITSU FMVNBP123

Even better, the keyboard for a machine ASUS N50VC Laptop Battery of this size is a work of pure brilliance. For sure, it's small and does take some getting used to, but given a short amount of time it's perfectly possible to maintain a brisk and consistent typing speed. Keys have just the right amount ASUS N50VA Battery of travel and provide a crisp and even response, while the layout is surprisingly decent given the size. If any further proof were needed, this entire review was written on the Eee PC and it didn't take any more time than it would normally. This is also helped by the ASUS N50V Battery Original software provided, with the generally excellent Open Office on hand for all your office productivity needs. Along with a word processor there's Presentation and Spreadsheet applications, while under the Work tab you can also access Adobe Reader, ASUS N50TR Battery as well as Thunderbird for email and a Dictionary. Moving to the Internet tab there's plenty to see, including shortcuts to popular mail services such as Gmail and Hotmail, as well as links to Wikipedia, Google Documents and ASUS N50TP Battery Internet Radio. Skype comes pre-loaded, along with the excellent multi-platform instant messenger, Pidgen. Internet browsing is supplied by Firefox, though of all things the browsing experience on the Eee PC isn't as seamless as it could be.ASUS N50TA Battery

ASUS N50TA Charger

Why? To begin with the screen resolution isn't ideal. ASUS B50A-AQ049E Original Battery Since a great majority of websites default to 1024 pixels wide, the 800 pixel width means many websites can't fit into the screen. There's also little in the way of scaling of web pages as found in Mobile Safari on the iPhone, which makes browsing on the lower resolution screen awkward at times. These aren't insurmountable problems, ASUS B50A-AQ057E Battery but it may make some people think twice and as a result one has to wonder whether Opera might have been a better option as the default browserIt's known to be quicker and less resource intensive than Firefox, while it's also better optimised for mobile devices with low resolution screens. Of course, the Linux proficient ASUS B50A-AQ111X Battery among you could happily install Opera yourselves, though the command line jiggery-pokery involved is hardly end user friendly. In favour of Linux though, it does mean that the Eee PC boots up impressively quickly, in the region of 15 seconds. ASUS B50A-B1 Original Battery Moreover, the standby mode provides a near instant restart, just like other mobile devices. It also means that, despite the relatively slow components, the Eee PC doesn't grind to a complete halt. It still isn't fast mind you, but it's perfectly useable for the usage required. ASUS B50A-B2 Battery If you really can't deal with Linux, Asus has made all the Windows XP component drivers available. Thus, you can install Windows XP if you like, or even wait for the Windows version that Asus has already announced. ASUS B50A-C1 Battery

I often need to use Internet for studying. FUJITSU FPCBP64Z The Intel 4965AGN and Bluetooth provide quick and stable connection. I am very pleased with the connection. No matter what I do either check e-mail, or chat with friends and relatives, the connection is stable. Besides, the Fujitsu laptop FUJITSU FPCBP105 is very powerful, because of the 2.0GHz Intel Core 2 Duo T7300. The laptop turns on very quickly and I can start working in a minute.I also think that Fujitsu keyboard and touchpad are great. It is very pleasant to type on the keyboard. FUJITSU FPCBP105AP The keys are so soft. Concerning Fujitsu screen, I can say that it is one of the best screens I have ever seen. 15.4 inches screen provides great clarity and wonderful colors. I am a movie fan and I think that watching movies on this screen is a real pleasure.FUJITSU FMVNBP123 The battery is very durable. However, I needed to buy an additional one in order to extend the battery use. Windows Vista is an operating system of this Fujitsu laptop. I did not experience any problems working with Vista. To conclude, every student will be really happy to have such a great helper like Fujitsu LifeBook A6030.The Fujitsu Fujitsu Lifebook P1610 is FUJITSU FPCBP96 an interesting laptop produced by Fujitsu company. The company is one of the most famous all over the world and everyone knows this brand. .One of the most important and advantageous feature of this laptop is its portability. It is not so easy to find a portable tablet laptop. The Fujitsu laptop design and build is quite well. Fujitsu keyboard is really great and comfortable for typing. FUJITSU FPCBP96Z It does not produce much noise during your typing.

FUJITSU FPCBP96Z Battery

The Fujitsu screen is very bright and clean. FUJITSU FMVNBP122 The colors of the screen are very bright and pleasant for eyes. In my opinion, watching movies on this Fujitsu screen is a real pleasure. Working on this laptop all day long you can be sure that your eyes will not get tired FUJITSU FMVNBP121 because Fujitsu guarantee the quality of laptops screen. The laptops battery work quite a long period of time and it is a real plus that can be added to all the advantageous of this laptop. If you are working at home or you travel a lot then it is really FUJITSU FPCBP37 very important for you.The Fujitsu laptop is very light and it can be taken anywhere. Wireless connection allows you always stay in touch with your friends and relatives, when you do not have an opportunity to visit them very often. If you value powerFUJITSU FPCBP36 portability and stylish look then the Fujitsu Lifebook P1610 is what you need.Fujitsu LifeBook U810 is a well known on the market among laptops. It is portable, powerful, stylish mini laptop that attracts many customers. The total weight of this model of a laptop is almost one kilogram. So, as you can see it is very light laptop. It has 5.6 inch widescreen format display FUJITSU FMVNBP109 capable of a 1024x600 resolution.

Inspiron 1521 Battery Replacement

2012/05/03 12:42

 Latitude C840 Battery

This same dominance was borne out on our gaming tests.Latitude CPx Battery In World of Warcraft, with effects maxed out at 1080p, the M18x averaged 164 frames per second. That's more than two and a half times the desktop replacement average of 60 fps. The M17x came in about 60 frames per Precision M40 Battery second lower. The same goes for Far Cry 2: With effects on Very High, the M18x averaged 151 fps, which is four times the category average of 38 fps. The ASUS G74SX managed a strong 97 fps, but it's still about 50 fps shy.It was a delight to be able to Precision M50 Battery turn on every effect and setting to its max; we felt a bit like Marty McFly in front of Doc's amplifier. When we were rolling through World of Tanks, everything from explosions to leaves on trees and dust in the wind was beautifully rendered, with all the details as crisp as could be. Inspiron 500m Battery Replacement How powerful are the M18x's graphics? Using the WiHD, we extended our display to a 55-inch Samsung Plasma HDTV. We then played a Blu-ray of Iron Man at full screen on the Samsung and fired up World of Tanks on the M18x's display. Even with the game's settings at max, we averaged 60 fps and never saw a blip or pause on either screen. Inspiron 600m Battery It was incredibly impressive.

Another area where Alienware takes the kitchen-sink approach: Precision M20 Battery ports. The M18x has the following: Gigabit Ethernet, VGA, two USB 3.0 ports, two USB 2.0 ports, an eSATA/USB combo (with PowerShare), one mini Display Port, HDMI 1.4 out, VGA, two headphone, one S/PDIF optical out, mic, and a Kensington Lock slot. Latitude D610 Battery A slot-loading Blu-ray player is also on the right, as is a 9-in-1 memory card reader and an ExpressCard/54 slot. As if that wasn't enough, the M18x also has HDMI 1.3 input, so you could use the notebook as a TV or monitor, too. Latitude D530 Battery The 3-megapixel webcam on the M18x delivered crisp visuals, but colors were slightly muted. As Alienware is owned by Dell, the M18x features the parent company's Live Central software, which lets you tweak brightness and contrast and add fun avatars and effects. Latitude D520 Battery Our M18x came outfitted with an Intel Core i7-2920XM overclocked Turbo Boost to 4-GHz, 16GB of DDR3 memory (at 1600 MHz), dual Nvidia GeForce GTX 580M GPUs (with SLI enabled), and two 750GB, 7,200-rpm hard drives in a RAID 0 array. Latitude D510 Battery It didn't break the PCMark Vantage record, but it put up a good fight. On that benchmark, the M18x scored 10,182. The M17x, which had the benefit of a 256GB Samsung SSD, blew past it with a score of 17,486. The ASUS G74SX, which also had the benefit of an SSD, notched 12,970. Even the HP dv7t Quad Edition scored a Latitude D600 Battery higher 13,565. Still, you're not going to want for power; the M18x's score is about 2,500 points above the desktop replacement average, and we had no trouble running high-powered games at their max settings.Latitude D505 Battery

In this category and price range, Inspiron 8000 Battery we really like the Acer Aspire TimelineX 4820TG-6847, which offers discrete AMD grapchis in an equally slim 4.6-pound package, though it costs you an hour of endurance. The Gateway ID47H02u is another strong choice Inspiron 8100 Battery Replacement because it costs $100 less and lasts a longer 7 hours on a charge. However, the Gateway's glossy touchpad isn't for everyone. At $829, the Inspiron 14z is a powerful notebook with close to all-day battery life. The aluminum chassis is sleek and sexy--especially in Fire Red--and Inspiron 8200 Battery we like the backlit keyboard. We're just not fans of the port covers or the way the laptop's touchpad handles multitouch gestures. Other than those minor issues, the Dell Inspiron 14z is a very good choice. This morning at Dell’s IFA press conference, the company showed off the Dell XPS 14z, the little brother of the slim, yet powerful XPS 15z. Latitude C500 Battery From the quick pictures snapped by Engadget, the XPS 14z looks to retain its sibling’s MacBook Pro design cues with smooth sheets of metal making up the outer shell and a chassis that’s about 1-inch thick.Latitude C510 Battery Replacement

Dell Inspiron 1720 Battery

Unlike the XPS 15z, Vostro 1500 Battery best buy this notebook is packing the majority of its ports in the back, including HDMI, two USB (possibly USB 3.0?), and ethernet. The sides are reserved for headphone and mic jacks, a card reader, and an optical drive. Dell says that it’ll be available Inspiron 1721 Battery later this year, but didn’t commit to a particular time. Time to start working on your Christmas lists.Like a Michael Bay movie, it's getting harder and harder for Alienware to top itself. But somehow, it keeps doing it. Case in point: the M18x. Featuring an 18-inch full HD screen, Inspiron 1720 Battery an overclocked Core i7 processor running at 4 GHz, two of Nvidia's most powerful GPUs, and WirelessHD streaming, this gaming rig is hyperbole personified. As you might expect, this gaming monster doesn't come cheap. Our configuration costs a whopping $5,552. So do the special effects justify the cost of admission? Everything about Inspiron 1521 Battery Replacement the M18x is huge. The notebook has a similar design to the M17x; it's just bigger. The aluminum lid (ours came in Nebula Red; black is also available) is adorned with a chrome Alienware logo in the center and a rubber panel at the bottom. Inspiron 1520 Battery A black soft-touch finish on the deck resists fingerprints. The front retains the distinctive backlit grilles on either end, which are all the more intimidating on this system. The red extends around the sides of the notebook, and massive vents run along the entire back of the machine, not unlike those on the ASUS G74SX-A2.Precision M6300 Battery

Where the M17x was a relatively trim 16 x 11.9 x 1.8 inches and 9.6 pounds, Latitude C540 Battery the M18x weighs a whopping 13 pounds and measures 17.2 x 12.7 x 2.1 inches. Other 18-inch notebooks don't even come close: The Acer Aspire 8951G weighs 8.8 pounds. The G74SX, a 17-inch system, checks in at 10.6 pounds. Latitude C600 Battery Replacement Heck, the M18x's power brick alone weighs 4 pounds.Click to enlargeAs with all Alienware notebooks of the past two years, one of the coolest things on this laptop is the backlighting. You can change the keyboard, the logos, the front grille--even the ring Latitude C610 Battery around the touchpad--to a number of different colors, depending on your mood or what you're doing. It's just awesome. The AlienFX utility to change the controls is fun to use; you can easily spend a lot of time tinkering with the color schemes. Latitude C640 Battery Overclocking a CPU will definitely cause things to heat up, which is the case with the M18x. After we streamed a Hulu video at full screen for 15 minutes, the touchpad was a cool 78 degrees and the space between the G and H keys was 86, but the underside near Latitude C800 Battery best buy the rear was a hot 99 degrees Fahrenheit. Expect the chassis to heat up more after an hour or two of gaming. The keyboard on the M18x not only has a full number pad on the right, but also a set of five macro keys running down the left. A button at the top of the column lets you switch between three modes, so you can have up to 15 macros per game.Latitude C810 Battery

Tecra A5 Battery original

2012/05/02 15:27

 Satellite M40 Battery

While I was there, I had a chance to talk to Eric Tecra A3 Battery Chen, who heads up HP’s Elitebook design team. He walked us through how they tested out various design concepts on the ProBook 5330m and the Elitebook line, and talked about the future of business notebooks. Tecra A4 Battery The big takeaway? Although webOS hardware is kaput, HP is investing heavily in touch input and new form factors to make the most of Windows 8.LAPTOPMAG: How much experimenting did it take to create the Elitebook?Eric Chen: We’ve gone through 10, 20, 30 Tecra A5 Battery original different iterations of the Elitebook before we came to the final design. Even different versions of the keys, key treatments. When we think something’s going to work, we have to put it to the test. This was a very very early exploration. If you notice on the finished products,Tecra A6 Battery you don’t have these gloss bits. Since we sell into global environments, in Europe, there’s something called the GS mark, which requires us to not have a gloss reflectivity over a certain amount. So this was something we studied early on but passed over because of the gloss level.HP’s materials roadmap has you looking at materials such as ceramic and carbon fiber. Tecra A7 Battery How will they be used in laptops?

The materials are sought after as a necessity as Qosmio X500-134 Battery the expectation for notebooks is to be lighter, thinner, stronger. Our notebooks pass through some of the most stringent tests I’ve seen. I used to work at Motorola where there are a lot of government contracts, and you have to be Qosmio X500-128 Battery able to run the product over with a car. These things go through the same things: the heat chamber, humidity chambers. So the materials we choose are out of necessity. It has to look great, and at the same time–and they don’t really want to know about this–if I drop it, Qosmio X500-11M Battery it can survive. There’s an expectation for this thing to last longer. On the consumer side, it’s more of “hey, look at me.” For us, it’s a feature that we don’t show on the outside, but it’s something that we’ll tell our customers as a value add. Touch. We’re Qosmio X500-116 Battery working with Microsoft extensively. We think there’s going to be an explosion of products and innovative features through touch. I think we’re still at touch 1.0 in terms of what we’re seeing. The capabilites of the sensors are now just incredible, and SDKs are being put out for a lot of third-party software manufacturers to embed touch everywhere. Qosmio X500-10X Battery And think about the relationship between devices as well. We already see this, touch devices becoming auxillary controls for other devices. They will all have to work together in the future. I think that’s going to be the most interesting.Qosmio X500-10T Battery

Our fingers danced across the smooth MT3HJ surface of the 3.3 x 2-inch Elan touchpad. Multitouch gestures such as pinch-to-zoom, two-finger scroll and rotation, and three-finger press and flick were fast, responsive, and accurate. We were able to highlight text with ease, 451-11258 and we enjoyed using three-finger flicks to navigate between photos. The 15.6-inch display on the A53T offered luscious color with wide viewing angles. We were blown away by the desolate expansiveness of a bone-white desert set against a crystal-blue sky in the John Carter full-screen Tecra A7 Battery 1080p YouTube trailer. The princess' blood-red tribal paint glowed in the orange campfire under a rich obsidian sky. During darker scenes, however, we could see our reflection in the extra-glossy display.Dialog from the Altec Lansing speaker bar sounded a bit muted until weTecra S2 Battery made some adjustments using the ASUS SonicFocus control panel.

Afterwards, dialog and music was much richer and louder, easily filling a small room. Miguel's sensual tenor and slinky synthesized instrumentals oozed the appropriate ambiance Satellite P100 Battery on the track "Quickie," while Sting's plaintive vocals blended perfectly with the jazz clarinet and bass on "Englishman in New York." The A53T can get a little hot under the collar. After we streamed a full-screen Hulu video for 15 minutes, the notebook's touchpad measured a Satellite P105 Battery warm 93 degrees Fahrenheit, while the space between the G and H keys registered 90 degrees. The laptop's underside measured a cool 88 degrees, which allowed us to use it in our laps for more than an hour. The left side vent measured 97 degrees, two degrees above what we consider comfortable.Satellite Pro P100 Battery The right side of the A53T features a USB 2.0 port, Tecra R10 Battery a DVD burner, mic and headphone jacks, and a Kensington lock slot. Another USB 2.0 port sits on the left side with a USB 3.0 port, HDMI, VGA, Gigabit Ethernet, and a power jack. A 5-in-1 card reader resides on the front lip of the Qosmio X500 Battery notebook.

We also ran our OpenOffice test, a spreadsheet macro Satellite M40 Battery original best buy test that measures the time it takes to perform a VLOOKUP operation matching 10,000 names in one worksheet with addresses in another. The A53T took 10 minutes and 6 seconds. That's about 3 minutes longer than the Satellite M45 Battery mainstream average (7:13), but nearly 40 seconds faster than the Gateway NV55 (10:48). The Toshiba L755D took 9 minutes and 18 seconds to complete the task. The A53T's 500GB, 7,200-rpm hard drive booted the 64-bit version of Windows 7 Home Satellite M50 Battery Premium in 70 seconds, 6 seconds longer than the category average. The NV55S05u and the Satellite L755D, both equipped with 640GB, 5,400-rpm hard drives, posted times of 0:48 and 0:60 respectively. On our file transfer tests, Satellite M55 Battery original the ASUS A53T duplicated 4.97GB of mixed-media files in 2 minutes and 35 seconds for an impressive transfer rate of 32.8 MBps. That well above the 28 MBps mainstream average. The A53T's switchable graphics allow it to toggle on between the integrated AMD Radeon HD 6520G GPU and the performance-enhancing Radeon HD 6650M GPU Satellite Pro A100 Battery with 1GB of VRAM. However, we first had to assign GPU usage to specific software, files, and websites using the AMD VISION Engine control panel. This quickly became annoying, as we encountered a dialog box prompting us to configure the graphics setting for nearly every video, web page, and application we opened. We prefer Nvidia Optimus Satellite Pro M50 Battery technology, which seamlessly switches between integrated and discrete GPUs without any human assistance.

On 3DMark06, the notebook scored an impressive 6,715--2,308 points higher than the 4,504 mainstream average. Qosmio X505-Q850 Battery original best buy The Gateway NV55S05u's AMD Radeon HD 6620G graphics card was the closest competitor, with a score of 5,686. The L755D's AMD Radeon HD 6520G posted 5,220.When it came time to go questing in World of Warcraft,Qosmio X505-Q832 Battery the ASUS A53T did not disappoint. With effects set to Good at 1366 x 768p, the notebook notched a strong 97 fps. That's 28 fps higher than the 69 fps mainstream average. The Gateway NV55S05u notched 67 fps, while the Satellite L755D posted 54 fps. Qosmio X505-Q830 Battery When we switched to maximum, the A53T managed a still-smooth 46 fps, solidly beating the 28 fps average. The ASUS A53T maintained solid numbers on the graphically taxing Far Cry 2, too. At 1024 x 768p, the A53T posted 56 fps, besting the Qosmio X505 Battery 42 fps average. On maximum, the notebook scored more than twice the 20 fps average, with 43 fps. During the LAPTOP Battery Test (continuous web surfing via Wi-Fi), the A53T lasted 4 hours and 37 minutes, on a par with the 4:35 mainstream average. The Toshiba L755D Qosmio X500-148 Battery original and the Gateway NV55S05u scored 4:09 and 4:26 respectively.

 Lenovo ThinkPad E50 Battery Original

One of the more noticeable and appreciated Lenovo ThinkPad T510i Battery differences between the Vostro V131 and its predecessor is the addition of a user removable battery in place of an integrated unit. During the LAPTOP Battery Test (continuous web surfing via Wi-Fi), the V131 lasted 6 hours and 12 minutes, 45 minutes longer than the 5:27 category average, and more than twice as long as the V130 (a disappointing 2:45).Lenovo ThinkPad T510 Battery Still, the Portege R835 and TimelineX 3830TG clocked in at 6:22 and 6:53, respectively, and the E420s lasted 6:41. Dell packages the Dell Vostro V131 with several helpful utilities. Mapped to one of the three quick launch buttons, Windows Mobility Center allowed us to adjust a number of settings, including screen brightness, energy profiles, Lenovo ThinkPad T410 Battery volume, and Wi-Fi. We used the Dell Support Center to run diagnostics and access system info while Dell Instant Launch Manager allowed us to configure the button to a specific action such as connecting to a network, hibernating, or launching a website.SMB users have access to Dell ProSupport, a 24/7 IT support service that includes Tech-to-Tech support and assistance with Microsoft Exchange Lenovo ThinkPad SL510 2875 Laptop Batteryand setting up virtualization management.

DigitalPersona Fingerprint Software let us use our finger to SAMSUNG NP-N143-DP01CN Battery Best Buy log into the notebook as well as password-protected websites. While the setup process only took about 30 seconds, we experienced some difficulty getting fingerprints to scan correctly. We received a number of prompts saying our swipe was too fast, too slow, or not centered.Other security software includes a shortcut to IDMonitor, identity protection SAMSUNG NP-N143-DP01VN Battery software from TrustedID. For $39.99 a year, users would receive credit- and debit-card scanning, Lost Wallet Protection, and Identity Monitoring.Third-party software includes a 15-month trial of Adobe Reader X, Microsoft Office Starter, Skype, Trend Micro Client-Server Security Agent, and Windows Live. The Dell Vostro V131 has a one-year basic limited warranty SAMSUNG NP-N143-DP01UA Battery and one-year on-site service. See how Dell fared in this year's Tech Support Showdown and Best & Worst Brands report. Our $889 review unit comes equipped with a 2.3-GHz Intel Core 15-2410M CPU with 6GB of RAM, a 500GB, 7,200-rpm hard drive, and an Intel HD 3000 Graphics. The $499 base model features a 1.1-GHz Intel Celeron VGP-BPS20/S ULV 847 processor, 2GB of RAM, a 320GB, 7,200-rpm hard drive with Intel HD 2000 Graphics (not recommended). Both the $599 and $729 models come equipped with a 2.2-GHz Intel Core i3-2330M CPU, a 320GB, 7,200-rpm hard drive and Intel HD 3000 Graphics. VGP-BPS20/B Best Buy The $729 unit has 4GB of RAM compared to the $599 version's 2GB. The $799 unit has a 2.4GHz Intel i5-2430M, 4GB of RAM, a 500GB, 7,200-rpm hard drive, and an Intel HD 3000 GPU.VGP-BPL20

The $889 Dell Vostro V131 PCGA-BP2T is one of the better small business notebooks you can buy. The machine retains the incredibly attractive aluminum chassis of its predecessor and improves upon it with a comfy backlit keyboard; a longer-lasting, user-replaceable battery; VGP-BPS22/A and a fingerprint reader for security. While the Acer Aspire TimelineX 3830TG-6431 offers better graphics performance and endurance--but no fingerprint reader--for the same price, the Vostro V131 is a solid SMB system with style and substance.Windows users don't need to hide in shame VGP-BPS22A whenever they see someone whip out a MacBook Air at the local Starbucks. The ASUS Zenbook UX31 is a slim, stylish Ultrabook that not only packs a robust Core i5 processor and 128GB SSD into its 3-pound unibody aluminum chassis, but a high-res 1600 x 900 display and excellent audio. The super-thin laptop also wakes up from sleep almost as VGP-BPL22 soon as you lift the spun-metal lid. Starting at $1,099, the UX31 is one of the sexiest Windows notebooks we've ever seen, and it costs $200 less than the 13-inch MacBook Air. Read on to find out if this machine can take down the VGP-BPS22 champ.

Editors' Note: ASUS sent us a second version of the UX31 with a new Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 14inch 05787UJ Battery Best Buy touchpad made by Elan. The improved usability of this touchpad was so dramatic we decided to increase the rating of this Ultrabook from 3.5 to 4 stars. See below for more details. Now, this is what an Ultrabook should look like. From the first moment we saw the ASUS Zenbook UX31, we were immediately taken with the brushed-aluminum Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 14inch 05787VJ Battery chassis and slim design. The circular spun-metal pattern on the lid is slightly darker in color, and the deck has a linear brush pattern. It's subtle, but it's a nice touch. The metal island-style keys are set off by a black background. The hinge area gets its own treatment, with a fine dot pattern and "UX31 Series Ultra Slim" written in script.Yes, the UX31 looks similar to Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 14inch 05787WJ Battery the 13-inch MacBook Air, but ASUS added enough original elements to make it its own. The UX31's unibody design is certainly far more attractive than the Acer Aspire S3, whose plastic construction felt cheap for a $900 system.Lenovo ThinkPad Edge 14inch 05787XJ Battery

At 3 pounds and measuring 13.3 x 8.9 x 0.1-0.7 inches, Lenovo ThinkPad SL510 2847 Laptop Battery the UX31 is the same weight as the Acer Aspire S3 Ultrabook and the 13-inch MacBook Air, but about0.05 inches thicker than both. We didn't really notice the difference.ASUS bundles the UX31 with a padded brown fabric sleeve, a USB-to-Ethernet adapter, and a micro VGA-to-VGA adapter. The adapters also get their own little pouch. Lenovo ThinkPad SL510 Battery Island-style keyboards are rapidly becoming de rigeur for premium notebooks, and the ASUS UX31 follows suit. We liked the large, well-spaced metal keys, and even though they were flat, our fingers stuck to them well. The arrow keys are smaller than what you'll find on the 13-inch Air, but they were pretty easy to find by feel.Overall, typing this review on the UX31 was a pleasant experience, Lenovo ThinkPad SL410k 2842 Battery but we had to hit the keys slightly harder than we're used to make sure the notebook registered all of our presses. What's missing is backlighting, which will be a big omission for some. We also wish ASUS would reverse the function keys so that you could adjust the volume or brightness without having to press Fn first.Lenovo ThinkPad SL410 2874 Battery Best Buy

HP G60 Charger

2012/04/27 11:59

 PA3191U-1BRS

Despite everything the notebook has going for it, there were a few things that kept HP Pavilion dv4z Charger the EliteBook 8650w from reaching the upper echelon such as a short, 25-hour battery life and no SSD, despite its massive price. While the HP EliteBook 8560w will appeal to graphic design and cinemotography crowd, the nearly $4,000 worth of sticker shock is sure PA3356U-1BRS to give anyone pause. It was only a year ago when the iPad was considered a netbook killer—remember netbooks?—but now many people are wondering whether tablets are good enough to replace a full-fledged laptop. PA3356U-2BAS The answer is simple: maybe. It really depends on your computing needs. Here’s a quick breakdown of what you should consider before deciding to buy either type of device for yourself or as a gift. Led by Apple’s iPad 2, tablets are ideal for consuming content. They’re great tools for surfing the web, checking e-mail and Facebook, playing games, reading digital magazines and books, PA3356U-2BRS and enjoying movies and music. But that’s not all slates have going for them. These devices turn on instantly and tend to last longer on a charge than your typical notebook. The best models offer 8 or more hours of unplugged use. That battery life advantage also extends to standby time. With tablets’ phone-like operating systems, you can set them aside for days and they PA3356U-3BAS will likely still have plenty of juice left.

The most popular tablet PABAS049 size is 9 to 10 inches, which is similar in dimensions to a magazine, but you’ll also find plenty of devices with 7- or 8-inch screens. These models are more portable, and can more easily fit inside a purse or jacket pocket. The iPad and similarly sized competitors PABAS048 tend to weigh 1.6 pounds or less, while 7- to 8-inch models weigh about a pound or less. Regardless of the size, tablets are lighter and easier to carry than laptops.Tablets are particularly attractive as gifts because they’re more affordable than most laptops. The iPad 2 starts at $499, and there are several slates that start as low as $199. We haven’t seen many quality devices at that lower price, but it looks like the $199 PA3588U-1BRS Amazon Kindle Fire changes that with a great screen, a turbo-charged browser, and easy access to Amazon content. A good notebook costs $200 to $300 more.As far as productivity goes, tablets are becoming increasingly versatile as more PA3587U-1BRS business-friendly apps proliferate. There’s the versatile iWork suite for the iPad, as well as robust third-party options such as Documents to Go and Quickoffice. Similar options are available for Android-based slates. Thanks to such cloud-based services as PA3456U-1BRS Dropbox and iCloud, the limited storage capacity of tablets is less of an issue than you might think, though tablets are not very useful PA3356U-3BRS without Internet connectivity.

As Apple has proved with the MacBook Air, people PA3191U-1BRS Laptop Battery are willing to pay a premium for instant-on responsiveness, sleek design, and long battery life. The goal for Intel is to drive prices down and transform this category from a niche into one that dominates.“I don’t blame Apple’s competitors for trying to add more value versus the MacBook Air,” said NPD’s Baker. “However, prices are going toPA3191U-2BRS Battery Original have to drop to between $600 and $700 for Ultrabooks to take off.” He argues that Ultrabook makers aren’t really competing with Apple as much as they are with sub-$500 Windows laptops with 15-inch screens. To help push Ultrabooks closer to the mainstream, Intel will release its Ivy Bridge chip in the first half of 2012, promising improved efficiency, PA3191U-3BAS Laptop Battery as well as support for both USB 3.0 and Thunderbolt technologies (currently found in the Air). Further down the road, Intel’s Haswell chip will consume half as much power as today’s processors. By then, if not sooner, ARM will be competing with Intel to power the next generation of Ultrabooks, which will run Windows 8. And with that kind of competition, prices should plummet, PA3191U-3BRS Battery Original making Ultrabooks a much bigger part of the overall mix.

We’re tracking about a dozen designs for pa3905u Christmas this year, and next year the goal is something over 50 to 70 designs, so that it’s a very important category in the market,” said Welch. “And then by 2013 with the new platforms that are coming in, and Windows 8 now mainstream, PABAS081 that’s when you really are at the sort of the new norm—this is what’s now expected of a notebook.”Ultimately, the biggest obstacle for Ultrabooks isn’t Apple, but inertia. “While focusing on instant-on functionality is good, we’ve been training people for 15 years that clock speed and overall PA3475U-1BRS Laptop Battery performance matters most,” stressed Baker. “It’s hard to reverse that.”To paraphrase that famous Smiths song, some weeks are bigger than others. And its hard to top the last week in reviews, which included already-successful Apple’s iPhone 4S and ASUS’ sleek Ultrabook. PABAS080 Battery Original But this week wasn’t exactly slim pickings; we reviewed Sprint’s version of the 4S (which offers users unlimited data), Dell’s sleek and powerful XPS 14z, and Amazon’s latest eReader.PA3476U-1BRS Battery Original

The little brother to the larger 15z, the Dell XPS 14z packs a lot Compaq Presario CQ71 Charger of power--a Core i7 CPU, 8GB of RAM, and Nvidia graphics--into a 13-inch brushed-metal chassis. It's one of our favorite thin-and-light notebooks thanks to its combination of a sleek design and strong performance. One of the greatest notebooks we’ve ever tested, Apple’s 13-inch MacBook Air is powerful and stylishly thin, offers exceptional battery life,HP G50 Charger and features just the right amount of extras that make users swoon. We were so impressed by Apple’s effort, that we awarded the Air an Editors’ Choice award, as well as a rare 5-star rating back in July. But the Air isn’t the only wafer-thin notebook in town. Intel’s new Ultrabook form factor HP G60 Charger has begun to hit the streets, with ASUS’ Zenbook line its most interesting representative. Like the MacBook Air, ASUS’ 13-inch Zenbook UX31 also offers great looks, speedy boot/wake times, and solid performance, but it boats a high-resolution display and HP G61 Charger promises better sound for $200 less (when comparing startng prices). With so much in common, it seems like these two were destined for a face-off. So, we pitted our supersleek contestants against each other in a 13-round winner-take-all brawl to see which is the best ultraportable around. Let’s get it on!HP G70 Charger

Since its introduction in 2008, the MacBook Air’s HP Pavilion dv5z Charger Original aluminum unibody design has been the go-to style for ultraportable notebooks. You need only look as far as the Zenbook UX31 to see that point illustrated. Because of that, Apple has done little to change the Air’s design aesthetic over the years. For the 2011 edition, the Air measures just 0.11 inches at its thinnest point and 0.68 inches at its thickest and HP Pavilion dv5t-1000 Charger Original weighs just 3 pounds. If the Air’s looks had to be summed up in three words they would be: elegance through austerity. From the unibdy aluminum chassis to the glow of the Apple logo on its lid down to its black keys, the Air is one beautiful machine but it’ not as fresh as it once was.The ASUS Zenbook UX31 is by far the best-looking Ultrabook on the market. That’s HP Pavilion dv5t Charger due in large part to the circular spun-metal pattern on its dark-gray lid. The UX31’s silver deck and underside feature a linear brushed design that sets them apart from the lid ever so slightly. That same silver coloring is also used on the ASUS’ chiclet-style keyboard.HP Pavilion dv5 Charger

The one downside we found with the UX31’s design is its PA3191U-4BAS cheap plastic black display bezel. For all of the other effort put into the notebook’s design, cutting corners here seems silly. At 3 pounds, the Zenbook weighs as much as the Air, but at 0.1 inches at its thinnest point and 0.7 at its thickest, PA3191U-4BRS the ASUS is slightly thicker. Despite the slightly thicker size, we give the design battle to the UX31. We still love the Air’s design, but the contrasting brushed-aluminum treatments given to the UX31’s lid and deck give it a more premium look and feel. The space PA3191U-5BAS Laptop Battery constraints put on the Air and the UX31 due to their small size means that they don’t offer the same number of ports as a standard notebook. However, both systems manage to offer most of what users need. The MacBook Air has two USB 2.0 ports–one it the left side PA3191U-5BRS and one on the right. The left side also includes a microphone port and magnetic power connector. The right side houses a full-size SD card slot, as well as Intel’s Thunderbolt port. The inclusion of a Thunderbolt port is a huge plus for the Air, because it offers 20 times the speed of USB 2.0 and can transfer data as well as video and audio signals. PA3356U-1BAS Other than a display from Apple and a hard drive from Lacie, though, there aren’t a lot of peripherals yet that support Thunderbolt.
